Provides prenatal education to expectant parents. Assists with other maternal-child classes as necessary to meet schedule and maintain competence. Utilizes principles of group process and adult learning when teaching groups of expectant parents. Participates in development of childbirth preparation classes. Arranges for, completes and forwards room set-up requests in a timely manner. Responsible for setting up and operating audiovisual equipment. Records class attendance and collects class fees. Assists with evaluations of programs and ensures community and program needs are being met. Maintains positive and productive relationships with physicians, community organizations and community leaders to enhance program recognition and growth. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
