Provides professional patient care and practices physical therapy by implementing and documenting treatment following evaluation by the physical therapist. Treats patients in accordance with the order from the physician and the plan of care established by the physical therapist and provides treatment through the use of a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient's life. Implements an individualized treatment plan based on the therapist's evaluation and plan of care to address patient needs. Collaborates with Physical Therapist to identify updates and revisions to treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process. Establishes and instructs patients, families, and other caregivers in exercises and therapeutic home programs to be continued following discharge. Completes the appropriate documentation and billing in a timely manner. All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association, and The Joint Commission.

  • Implement and document treatment following evaluation by the physical therapist.
  • Treat patients according to physician orders and established plans of care.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans based on therapist evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapist to update treatment plans as needed.
  • Instruct patients, families, and caregivers in therapeutic home programs.
  • Complete documentation and billing in a timely manner.
  • Must have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited PTA program.
  • Must hold or be eligible to receive a PTA license in the state of service within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be certified in CPR or become certified within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must maintain all certifications and licensure according to expiration dates.
  • Valid driver's license required if assigned to drive a company vehicle.
  • Proof of insurance required if assigned to drive a personal vehicle.
  • American Physical Therapy Association membership preferred.
  • Work experience preferred, but not required, other than clinical experience within educational training program.
