About The Position

The Pre-K Paraprofessional at KIPP Kansas City plays a vital role in supporting the development and learning of young children in the classroom. This position is designed to assist the Pre-K teacher in providing a nurturing and engaging environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. The Pre-K Paraprofessional will work closely with students to promote their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Requirements

High School Diploma (required).
Associate’s degree or completion of 60 college credit hours (preferred) or
Passed the ParaPro Assessment (before September 23, 2013) or
Passed the Paraprofessional Assessement through Pearson (between September 23, 2013 through June 20, 2024) or
Passed the ParaPro Assessment through ETS (July 1, 2024 forward) or
Completed the 20hours Substitute Certified Course
Experience working with students with disabilities and in a school setting
Satisfactory outcome of a background check

The person in this position needs to be able to move about inside and outside the school or office throughout the workday.
The candidate is expected to attend conferences, meetings and training sessions both virtually and in person within the Region.

Responsibilities

Assist the Pre-K teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during instructional time, reinforcing learning concepts and skills.
Help create a stimulating and organized classroom environment that fosters exploration and curiosity.
Support students in developing social skills and managing their emotions through positive reinforcement and guidance.
Assist in implementing classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
Collaborate with the Pre-K teacher to address individual student needs and support their behavioral and emotional growth.
Communicate effectively with the Pre-K teacher regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support student learning and development.
Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
