About The Position

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the PreK-5 ELA Coordinator will facilitate achievement of the District’s Pre-K-12 long and short-term English programmatic goals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Teacher Coaching & Support Develops teachers’ knowledge of PreK-5 ELA-R content, and the best practices of literacy instruction and assessment and literacy and assessment across the content areas Works with teachers and building administrators to implement academically challenging content, feedback, and assessment during instruction, and engaging content and performance tasks Models examples of high-quality PreK-5 ELA instruction for district staff Ensures vertical and horizontal collaboration among teachers to promote district-wide learning and growth Supports vertical alignment of PreK-12 ELA curriculum, instruction, and assessment with national and state requirements, i.e., the Missouri Learning Standards Assist teachers with integration of technology during PreK-5 ELA instruction Professional Development Facilitates and coordinates professional development for district staff in the areas of K-5 ELA content, literacy, and literacy across the content areas Leads curriculum development efforts in all areas of K-5 ELA content, literacy, and uses data to guide decision making regarding associated curriculum and material adoptions Leads the development and assessment of existing K-5 ELA programs Team Support Serves as the facilitator for district PreK-5 ELA committees, meetings, etc Manages all monetary/materialistic resources earmarked for PreK-5 ELA programs and coordinates expenditures within budgetary parameters Creates Board of Education presentations relative to curriculum and material adoptions, course offerings, etc Performs other instructional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of effective committee leadership strategies, instructional practices and job embedded professional development Ability to demonstrate effective instructional leadership skills Ability to communicate effectively verbally, and in writing Knowledge of Board policies and procedures Ability to use effective interpersonal skills necessary for successfully building relationships and problem solving with colleagues The intent of this job description is to provide a representation description of the types of duties and responsibilities required for this position. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the content areas of English, Curriculum & Instruction, or Administration required
  • MO English certification
  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Three years of leadership experience
