About The Position

AECOM Hunt is seeking a highly talented and experienced Pre-Construction Estimating Manager to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. The Pre-Construction Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day pre-construction operations, including communicating, proposing, and preparing preliminary budget estimates, design cost estimates, design-development cost estimates, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) proposals, inclusive of value engineering. The role involves analyzing and acquiring additional project information such as preliminary schedules, procurement schedules, and cost analysis, as well as gathering information and data to demonstrate best practices and value engineering for cost savings opportunities. The Pre-Construction Manager will oversee the estimating, scheduling, and procurement team, ensuring the integrity of pre-construction information and preparing pre-construction budgets. This position requires articulating and presenting strategies and pricing for construction costs to provide clients with competitive and accurate pricing.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or similar curriculum.
  • 8 years of construction pre-construction experience or equivalent education/experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of preconstruction experience, preferably with a large general contractor.
  • Preconstruction experience in hospitality, high rise, airport, stadium, and datacenter construction markets.
  • Proficiency in On Screen Takeoff, Procore, PlanGrid, CMiC, Sage or other construction management software.
  • Model-based estimating experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Experience estimating subcontracted labor and pricing construction units.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day pre-construction operations.
  • Communicate, propose, and prepare preliminary budget estimates.
  • Analyze and acquire additional project information such as schedules and cost analysis.
  • Gather data to demonstrate best practices and value engineering for cost savings.
  • Manage pre-construction, estimating, scheduling, and procurement teams.
  • Research and compile budget estimates from pre-concept design to construction document stage.
  • Supervise team and review, analyze, and estimate costs of drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare pre-construction budgets and relay viability to the pre-con team.
  • Articulate and present pricing strategies for construction costs.
  • Oversee schedule and workload priorities with staff.
  • Review bids to subcontractors and analyze costs.
  • Ensure integrity of pre-construction information using estimating programs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
