The Preconstruction Estimator has a key role in Cooper Steel's preconstruction process, responsible for accurately projecting the realistic costs of a job while keeping costs low, maximizing profits, and maintaining strong business integrity. Analytical and detail-oriented by nature, Preconstruction Estimators must be comfortable communicating with customers, collaborating with internal teams, and multitasking. Requirements

  • With 2-5 years of experience in preconstruction estimating and a bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Fluent and comfortable with Microsoft Excel and adept to learning new software quickly
  • Analytical and wired to problem-solve
  • Communication-driven, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Interested in construction, preferably with previous construction experience
  • Detail-oriented and exceptional in time management, able to multitask, maintain organization, and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Flexible and unafraid to ask questions or share ideas

Responsibilities

  • Analyze costs and budgets for construction projects
  • Provide accurate estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and coordinators to develop project plans and prepare and submit bids and proposals
  • Review and analyze project specifications and drawings
  • Identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors
