About The Position

Preconstruction Engineer - BIM Operator Lafayette, IN Why Choose Huston Electric? Huston Electric, a full-service electrical contractor serving customers throughout Indiana, is seeking a Preconstruction Engineer at our Lafayette location. This individual must possess a strong work ethic and communication skills. We are offering a salary of $55-$65,000, and a competitive benefit package which includes paid vacation, paid company holidays, 401 (K) with company matching, pension, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage for a full-time employee. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical codes and electrical construction preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Sysque for preconstruction design.
  • Outstanding communication and time management skills.
  • Proficient with computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and under direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Trimble Layout software experience is not necessary, but preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and understand Construction Design Documents and specifications.
  • Collaborate on overall trade management and coordination with exposure to BIM.
  • Develop and create CAD/Revit drawings as directed by the VDC Manager or Lead Coordinator.
  • Assist in coordinating the location of electrical equipment and raceways for projects.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining standards, processes, and goals.
  • Utilize Autodesk Build to manage drawings and submittal files for field sharing.
  • Attend project kick-off meetings related to BIM Coordination and Prefab.
  • Maximize the use of AutoCAD and Revit to deliver high-quality design output.
  • Ensure clear communication with project managers and foremen to ensure accurate electrical installations.
  • Learn electrical materials and project-specific requirements.
  • Assist in preparing submittals and purchasing materials for projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, identifying and resolving issues.
  • Attend training events to stay updated on products and industry advancements.
  • Participate in company and industry functions as required by upper management.
  • Perform QA/QC checks on prefab materials prior to site installation.
