About The Position

This position is crucial for the building and delivery of world-class space-based telescopes. As a low-volume, high-mix manufacturer operating much like an advanced development organization, the role requires strong critical thinking, exceptional hands-on capability, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges. The technician will work closely with a cross-functional team of manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and program managers to assemble, test, and deliver precision optical and electro-mechanical hardware for space applications. The role demands someone who excels in dynamic, development-driven environments, as much of the work involves first-time builds and evolving documentation, making curiosity, adaptability, and technical rigor essential. This position is part of the L3Harris Imaging Division site in Wilmington, MA, which has a history of producing optical equipment for commercial and government customers, including NASA, and notably supported NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft by designing and building the telescope that captured the first close pictures of Pluto and several outer planets’ moons.
