Primary Location: United States (US) - Wisconsin - Horicon Function: Factory Engineering (CA) Title: Precision Metrology Engineer - 118762 Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position Your Responsibilities As a Precision Metrology Engineer for John Deere Horicon Works in Horicon, Wisconsin (centrally located between Milwaukee and Madison), you will provide onsite programming in the DMIS language for both new and existing parts. You will plan, coordinate, facilitate and perform dimensional metrology engineering work.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience programming in the DMIS language
  • 3+ years of metrology engineering experience, including the use of metrology tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of current and emerging metrology products, tools and concepts
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels in the organization and supplier personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, handle and complete multiple, concurrent projects on time
  • 1+ years of experience with engineering tools, systems and databases

Nice To Haves

  • Use of statistical tools and techniques for quality management such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), Root Cause Analysis
  • Previous use of AutoCAD, CAM or related software experience
  • Leading and supporting cross functional teams for projects of moderate scope
  • Manual and automated /robotic stamping, welding and press processes
  • SAP business software experience
  • Microsoft Software experience

Responsibilities

  • Write, operate, consult and troubleshoot dimensional metrology engineering programs
  • Provide programming education using any of a variety of programming languages
  • Participate in functional geometry reviews and design process assembly reviews as requested
  • Design and procure dimensional metrology engineering (DME) work-holding fixtures
  • Assist engineers in reading and interpreting dimensional metrology engineering output as it pertains to evaluating part quality and developing manufacturing processes
  • Work with ME, QE and Operations personnel to resolve production quality issues
  • Apply dimensional measurement equipment selection to specific measurement task
  • Ensure compliance with and help create procedures to maintain the CMM labs and systems to internal and international standards
  • Coordinate with our Computer Aided Inspection Room (CAIR) personnel to maximize measurement equipment utilization
  • Provide interpretation and guidance on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it pertains to dimensional metrology
