About The Position

The purpose of this position is: Set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts that meet precise specifications. This position includes significant duties such as: Set-up and Operate CNC and manual machines from proven programs and other documentation with minimal supervision. Follow instructions on routers, drawings and SOPs (standard operating procedures) and use proper methods of producing a quality part. Use traditional inspection equipment such as dial indicators, micrometers, height gages, and Vernier calipers to verify accuracy and quality of work. Conduct first piece checks with QA sign off. Make geometry, fixture and tool length offset adjustments as required. Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures. Prioritize workflow through effective communication with technical lead or supervisor. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Document time and production data using Epicor software. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two-year technical degree preferable
  • 1 to 3 years basic machine shop experience
  • Blueprint, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) and technical specification knowledge
  • Demonstrated computer and mathematics skills
  • Knowledge Use of elementary geometry, algebra and trigonometric principles together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables; various types of precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to make minor modifications to NC/CNC equipment programs
  • Initiative and Ingenuity Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes
