About The Position

Under general supervision, designs, builds and repairs a variety of tools, jigs, fixtures, welding, brazing, and assembly fixtures. Responsible for guiding and training other tool makers. Analyzes specifications, lays-out metal stock, sets up and operates a wide variety of exact tolerance machine tools. Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes. Troubleshoots equipment and makes complex repairs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years related experience or training.
• Moderate knowledge of how to tear down units and troubleshoot problems.
• Ability to determine the extent of troubles, repair damage mechanisms, or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble.
• Some knowledge of how to select the best material suited for specific purposes.
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
• Must be able to move at least 50 pounds.
