About The Position

We are seeking a Registered Nurse Preceptor to mentor and train new nurses and nursing students. The RN Preceptor plays a crucial role in the preparation and development of new nursing staff, as well as in enhancing the skills of existing staff. Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Completion of preceptor class.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  • Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current, preferred.
  • Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
  • Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
  • Responsible for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
  • Communicates with the physician, nurse director, and coworkers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology.
  • Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Works collaboratively with patients, patients’ family, significant other(s) and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.
