The Preceptor Adjunct: Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Levels I-III position at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Community & Technical College is designed for qualified individuals to provide essential pilot ground and flight training to students at various levels of their aviation education. The role is divided into three levels, each with specific responsibilities and qualifications. For Preceptor CFI Levels I and II, instructors are tasked with delivering training to beginning and intermediate students using both basic and complex single-engine airplanes. This includes not only flight instruction but also ground training, ensuring that students develop a comprehensive understanding of aviation principles and practices. Instructors at this level must possess FAA certified Flight Instructor credentials and demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and communication skills. The Preceptor CFI Level III instructors take on additional responsibilities, including training advanced students and administering Stage Checks as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). They play a crucial role in evaluating student progress and contributing to final course grades for UAA Professional Piloting Students. All instructors are expected to maintain a high standard of training and ensure that students meet established performance criteria. The position is part-time and located at the Aviation Technology Complex at Merrill Field Airport, approximately two miles from UAA's main campus. Instructors will be compensated hourly, with rates varying by level of certification and experience. This is a temporary position, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until suitable candidates are identified.
