About The Position

The Preauthorization and Referral Assistant at Beloit Health System is responsible for obtaining necessary preauthorizations and referrals from patient health plans for various medical services. This role involves utilizing online portals and Electronic Health Record applications to ensure that services such as procedures, admissions, and diagnostic testing are authorized efficiently and accurately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Certification as Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant with experience in administrative duties including patient care authorizations and/or referrals is required.
• Certification as Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) or Specialist (CRCS) within one year of placement in position is required.
• Minimum of 36 CEU credits per year are required for this position.
• At least two years' experience in a hospital and/or medical practice setting is required.
• Familiarity with medical billing/collections and healthcare insurance is required.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in health-related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain predetermination, preauthorization, and referrals from patient health plans for services rendered.
• Utilize online industry portals and Electronic Health Record applications to carry out functions under minimal supervision.
• Ensure compliance with health plan requirements for services including procedures, admissions, and treatments.
