About The Position

This individual is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the purpose of assessing and coordinating the care of high-risk surgical/procedural patients. This APRN will assess and facilitate high-risk patients with consultation, collaboration, and general supervision under a collaborative practice agreement with staff physicians and anesthesiologists utilizing extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, physiology and pharmacology. The APRN exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes, procedures and protocols depending on level of expertise. Provides patient centered care while ensuring accurate HCC documentation to reflect clinical complexity and optimize reimbursement. Nurse Practitioners work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The nurse practitioner also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The nurse practitioner will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital. Required to work primarily the day shift Monday - Friday. This position will also coordinate with hospital leaders, physicians, anesthesiologists, and other multidisciplinary teams to oversee and coordinate the care of the patient.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Louisiana State APRN Licensure
  • Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred
  • Eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Louisiana as approved by St. Tammany Health System
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain CME per licensure and clinic protocols
  • Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
