About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre Op/Phase II team. The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care to patients. This includes patient admission, pre-operative assessments, post-operative care, and ensuring patients are stable for discharge. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Schedule: 8:30 AM-9:00 PM Tuesdays/ Wednesdays and Fridays

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competence in providing safe, quality direct patient care and patient and family education as well as assisting the provider in the delivery of advanced care.
  • Ability to communicate concisely with patients, families and staff; collaborate with other members of the health care team to enhance care.
  • Ability to make nursing assessments and critically think.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of the use and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to complete patient documentation in a thorough, concise, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Ability to respond quickly and calmly to emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • A registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school with a current state license required.
  • CPR (BLS) certification required.
  • ACLS certified within six months of transfer or hire required.
  • PALS certified within six months of transfer or hire required.
  • P rior working knowledge of using computer programs and electronic medical records required.
  • On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
  • P ediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with other members of the health care team, the nurse uses the nursing process to complete the pre-operative physical, cognitive, spiritual and psychosocial assessment of patients awaiting surgery.
  • Formulates plan of care and reviews and revises plan on an ongoing basis.
  • Able to plan and give care based on the patient's age and level of development.
  • Assures appropriate information management and documentation using the nursing process in accordance with hospital OR policy; gives reports to other members of the health care team.
  • Supervises LPN in direct patient care functions and responsible to sign off charting completed in the medical records.
  • In collaboration with other members of the health care team, the nurse uses the nursing process to assess patient/family understanding and response to care provided; and patient/family educational needs.
  • The nurse redirects care as needed.
  • Participates in/or prepares for inservices and patient care conference.
  • Maintains "The Joint Commission" standards on an ongoing basis, and assists in unit responsibilities for readiness for Joint Commission visits.
  • Participates in department performance improvement activities.
  • Serves on hospital or system committees as assigned; maintains two-way communication between Surgery Center staff and assigned committee.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
