About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Pre-OP/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in an ambulatory surgery center. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The RN will oversee and guide other staff members and is expected to actively support the center's mission and philosophy under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Currently active State Registered Nursing License.
  • Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in nursing standards and department policies.
  • Ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide preoperative and postoperative care instructions.
  • Effective communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Competence in medication administration and electronic healthcare record management.

Nice To Haves

  • IV Sedation course completion and certification upon hire preferred.
  • Ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care based on the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Oversee and guide employees under supervision.
  • Maintain awareness of the status of assigned patients and communicate relevant data to the healthcare team.
  • Perform initial physiological needs assessments on all patients upon admission and discharge.
  • Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct before procedures.
  • Identify and respond to patients' symptoms and changes in condition in a timely manner.
  • Document patient data and treatment effectiveness according to accepted standards and policies.
  • Anticipate potential patient problems and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
