About The Position

The Operating Room RN is responsible for the delivery and documentation of patient care during the intra-operative period. The RN will assess the patient’s needs, physiologically as well as emotionally, and plan nursing care accordingly. The nursing role during this phase focuses on providing quality patient care through familiarity with and adherence to policies and procedures, and standards of practice for perioperative nursing. She/he will also monitor compliance to established standards and policies and procedures for surgical scrubs. The Pre-Op/Admitting nurse provides nursing care to patients being admitted for surgery. The nursing role during this phase focuses on assessing, identifying, and solving nursing care and pre-operative problems. The nurse is responsible for starting and monitoring IVs, administering pre-operative medications, performing pre-operative instruction, explanation of patient’s rights and procedures. The nurse will be responsible to calling patients prior to procedure for the preoperative admission times and health history. The PACU, Phase I nurse provides nursing care to patients returning from surgery. The nursing role during this phase focuses on assisting the patient through the transition from an anesthetized state to an awake condition. The nurse is responsible for assisting and maintaining adequate ventilation, hemostasis and circulation; assessing level of consciousness, providing pain management, and ensuring the safety of the patient until transferred to another unit. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Idaho required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required.
  • Current PALS certification required.
  • One year nursing experience.
  • Operating room equipment and computer knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.
  • Dosage Calculation and General mathematical Skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing workloads due to changes in the surgery census.
  • Ability to frequently and consistently make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CNOR certification preferred.
  • Operating room experience preferred.

Responsibilities
