About The Position

The Pre-licensure Nursing Part-Time Faculty member is responsible to manage and teach curricula within the Division of Pre-licensure Nursing. A minimum of 5 hours per week is scheduled for office hours to provide contact with students. The ideal candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. The ideal candidate should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Requirements

  • According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
  • Master of Science in Nursing required
  • CPR certified
  • Active, unencumbered Indiana Nursing license
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with a team and yet be able to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for relating effectively with employees and students throughout the university
  • Excellent role model of inter-professional competency domains
  • Problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate (in Nursing) preferred
  • Teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours in Pre-licensure Nursing per year (may include teaching summer courses)
  • Maintain expertise in specific teaching areas of nursing
  • Maintain knowledge of The Essentials of Nursing Education for Baccalaureate Degree Programs
  • Assist in keeping curricula current and evidence-based
  • Advise students in achieving the requirements for graduation
  • Advise students in achieving the requirements for NCLEX
  • Assist students in self-evaluation, career planning, and spiritual formation
  • Attend graduations/retreats/convocations/and other School of Nursing activities
  • Maintain clinical practice
  • Other duties as assigned
