About The Position

Responsible for instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making. Will create daily lesson plans, participate in ongoing professional training sessions for instructional planning based on assessment data, and work with grade-level teams of teachers to collaboratively plan and also form common unit assessments.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have and/or obtain:
  • CBI Fingerprint Clearance / Background and Criminal History Clearance
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Current TB test (completed within the last 6 months)
  • Abuse and Neglect training
  • FEMA disaster preparedness training
  • OSHA-approved Standard Precautions
  • Introduction to Early Intervention and Special Education Programs
  • Impact of Bias on Early Education
  • ECE 101 and 103 required (ECE 103 substitution Pyramid Plus Approach training) or
  • A current Early Childhood Professional Credential level 2 or higher in version 3.0 as determined by the ECE Department or
  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) issued by the CDA Council in a Center-Based, Preschool; CO ECE Department-approved credential or
  • A current Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) with an endorsement in the area of Early Childhood Education.

Nice To Haves

  • A current Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) with an endorsement in the area of Early Childhood Education. Preferred or
  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a major area of study in any area other area and
  • completion of an additional two (2) three (3)- semester credit hour courses in Early Childhood Education. Preferred or
  • One (1) of the courses must be either:
  • a. Introduction to Early Childhood; or
  • b. Guidance Strategies -or- the Department approved Pyramid Plus Approach training
  • An Associate’s degree (60 semester credit hours) from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Preferred or
  • Bachelor's, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in: 1. Child Development; 2. Child Psychology; 3. Early Childhood Education; 4. Early Childhood Special Education; 5. Educational Leadership and Administration; 6. Elementary Education; 7. Family and Human Development; 8. Family Studies; or, 9. Special Education, from an accredited college or university Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out the provided curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills.
  • Prepare children for kindergarten by introducing concepts they will explore further in their long-term social and academic future.
  • Provide age-appropriate weekly and monthly lesson plans.
  • Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
  • Provide various experiences and activities for children, including songs, games, and storytelling.
  • Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter.
  • Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents.
  • Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
  • Keep records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child’s development.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
  • Implement appropriate discipline when required.
  • Ensure equipment and classrooms are clean, well-maintained, and safe at all times.
  • Develop activities to stimulate the children.
  • Maintain student records on developmental and academic growth.
  • Be responsible for holding parent-teacher conferences.
  • Establish policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom.
  • Become familiar with emergency procedures and protocols.
  • Understand and comply with DHS rules and regulations.
  • Set up the classroom to reflect the lessons currently being taught.
  • Ensure students are supervised at all times.
  • Keep parents informed of classroom expectations, program activities, and their child's progress.
  • Discuss student development with parents.
  • Be vigilant about the health and safety of all students.
