About The Position

The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher provides developmentally appropriate instruction for children ages 4–5, supporting growth in cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical domains. In addition, this position carries part-time responsibilities as Site Director, ensuring daily compliance with Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care licensing, and Better Beginnings standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of required Better Beginnings Trainings
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Arkansas Teaching License in Early Childhood (P–4) preferred.
  • Experience teaching in a Pre-K or early childhood classroom.
  • Knowledge of the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily lessons based on the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards (CDELS)
  • Foster development across literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning, fine and gross motor skills, and problem-solving.
  • Use developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Integrate play-based and inquiry-based learning opportunities into daily routines.
  • Differentiate instruction for children with varying needs, including English Learners and children with disabilities.
  • Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment that promotes respect, safety, and independence.
  • Implement age-appropriate behavior guidance strategies consistent with school and state policy.
  • Establish predictable routines that support smooth transitions throughout the day.
  • Communicate regularly with families through conferences, newsletters, and daily updates.
  • Support parent involvement in classroom activities and events.
  • Provide resources to families to encourage at-home learning connections.
  • Conduct ongoing child assessments using approved Arkansas early childhood assessment tools (e.g., Work Sampling System, Teaching Strategies GOLD).
  • Document progress and maintain accurate records of child development.
  • Use assessment data to guide instruction and report growth to families and administrators.
  • Maintain compliance with Arkansas Division of Early Childhood requirements for ratios, health, and safety.
  • Participate in required professional development hours as outlined by Arkansas Better Beginnings and ADE standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to align instruction with school and district goals.
  • Uphold all licensing and accreditation standards applicable to early childhood programs in Arkansas.
