About The Position

Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking a Lower School Teacher Assistant to nurture and support Pre-K students in their personal and academic growth for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. Requirements

  • 1 year of experience working with children, preferably in an academic setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (preferred)
  • Eligible to be licensed by the Virginia Department of Education (preferred)

  • Experience with classroom management and working with digital technologies
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to solve problems without sacrificing relationships
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop and run

Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher in administering meaningful classroom instruction that is aligned with the school’s academic and developmental standards
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, nurturing, and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning
  • Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed; assess student learning needs and modify instructional methods to fit individual learning requirements
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining appropriate standards of student behavior in accordance with the school's guidelines
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of developments in the educational field
  • Assist in record-keeping, grading, and reporting as requested and in accordance with school procedures
  • Attend regular faculty and department meetings; contribute to teamwork and positive morale
  • Participate in faith formation experiences
  • Perform other duties as directed by the school administration
