About The Position

Position Overview The PreK teacher helps an effective learning environment for his students. The teacher supports the teachers in assimilating and fully practicing the ideals, principles, and teaching methodology of integral formation. The teacher carries out his or her work professionally and with a spirit of initiative, creating an environment of confidence and respect. The teacher fosters a love for the truth and a love for learning and works to effectively carry out the mission of forming Christian servant leaders.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (preschool and kindergarten assistants may be required to meet specific state requirements for Early Childhood Education licensing)
  • Leadership and teamwork capabilities
  • Ability to take direction, initiative, and exercise resourcefulness
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Capacity to manage groups
  • Skill for transmitting knowledge and the ability to stimulate a desire to learn in students
  • Agreement with or openness to the apostle mission of the school and the method of internal formation

Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons
  • Assess students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Assess student work and give timely and appropriate feedback
  • Communicate areas of student concern to parents in a timely manner
  • Maintain regular and professional communication with parents concerning student academic progress
  • Communicate areas of concern to the department chair in a timely manner
  • Teach students as an entire class or in small groups
  • Communicate with parents about students’ progress
  • Develop and enforce classroom rules
  • Exercise students in the development of their intellectual skills and abilities
  • Motivates students to continual personal improvement
  • Encourage, assess, monitor, and records the process and development of the students
  • Maintain an effective and formative learning environment with the classroom according to school guidelines
  • Organize and maintain classroom supplies and materials
  • Manage students’ behaviors in the classroom and school ground, applying appropriate and effective motivational discipline
  • Supervise and discipline the students in their care inside and outside the classroom
  • Effectively carry out extra assigned duties
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with students
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal of the school.
