About The Position

Special Education Teacher – Pre-K Kate Furbish Elementary School Brunswick's Special Education Department is excited and eager to welcome a new teacher to our early childhood special education team to support the inclusion of our youngest students with IEPs. This teacher would support service delivery and related IEP accommodations to students in the general education setting and the special education setting. This role will work with 4 year olds this year with the the plan of adding 3 year olds for the 2027-2028 school year. A successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, excellent communication skills, a willingness to seek creative solutions to issues as they arise, an ability to build positive relationships with students, and a willingness to collaborate with parents, special educators, regular educators, service providers, and administrators as appropriate. Qualifications: Maine Department of Education Certification (282 Endorsement) Maine Criminal History Records Check Candidate will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate program creation and design with inclusive practices in mind; Demonstrate the competence and flexibility necessary to create and implement academic and functional skills programming for students with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs; Create and implement behavior plans; Collect, and report on, academic and functional data; Support ed techs in the implementation of IEP services, goals and accommodations; Build staff and student schedules.
