About The Position

The Pre-K Instructional Aide position at McPherson USD 418 involves providing instructional support in a high-quality preschool program for children aged 3-5. The role focuses on preparing children socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally for school experiences while ensuring their safety in the learning environment.

Requirements

• Preferred EC-AA or CDA certification.
• Must have a High School Diploma.
• Completed KBI criminal background check.
• Pre-employment Physical Exam with TB skin test.
• 1st Aid / CPR training.

Responsibilities

• Understand the HS components, classroom routines, and contribute to the instruction of students.
• Follow directions of the supervising teacher and the education coordinator.
• Take initiative to become involved in daily classroom activities.
• Act as a team member in planning, preparation, cleanup, and classroom activities.
• Assist children in toileting (may include diapering children).
• Assure the safety of all children and staff.
• Help in basic preparation of meals and cleanup after meals.
• Complete records accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Engage students to support classroom curriculum, health, behavior management, and individualization.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
• Interact in a positive manner with all students, promoting positive self-concept and demonstrating sensitivity in relating to students.
• Understand and maintain confidentiality.
• Complete pre-service and in-service requirements and reports in a timely fashion.
• Clean and sanitize areas of the classroom to provide a healthy, organized, and comfortable environment.
• Assist students (may require lifting up to 50 lbs.).
• Substitute as the bus monitor position when necessary.
• Take anecdotal notes and collect assessment data when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
