About The Position

The Pre-K Educational Assistant at Northfield Elementary is responsible for supporting the instructional program and overall school operations. This role involves assisting teachers in various tasks, providing direct instruction to students, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for children. Requirements

• Must hold an associate's degree or higher, or have equivalent college coursework (48 hours) at an accredited institution, or pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with adults and children.
• Sufficient reading and writing skills to assist children.
• Ability to protect confidentiality rights of parents and children.
• Punctuality and regular attendance are essential.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with groups of children is helpful but not required.
• Light clerical skills may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of instructional materials and activities.
• Provide direct instruction, including reading stories, tutoring, and administering assessments.
• Assist with record keeping and grading papers.
• Support children with personal physical needs.
• Perform light clerical tasks such as typing, filing, and operating a copy machine.
• Monitor large groups of children in settings like the cafeteria and bus room.
• Prepare bulletin boards and assist in the school office.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Benefits

• Full-time Educational Assistants work a 10-month annual contract with salary and benefits set by the Board.
• Part-time Mid-Day Assistants work at-will with hourly rates set by the Board.
