About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking Pre-Kindergarten Teachers for three (3) classrooms at Beekman Elementary School, Poughquag, NY . Location: Beekman Elementary School, Poughquag, NY This role provides four-year-olds with a high-quality early learning experience that builds a strong foundation for Kindergarten. The ideal candidate is creative, culturally responsive, and passionate about early childhood development , with experience in early literacy, multi-disciplinary approaches, and strategies for diverse learners. This position emphasizes child-centered learning, literacy and numeracy development, social-emotional growth, and collaboration with colleagues and families .

Requirements

  • Current NYS teaching certificate valid for service in the early childhood grades
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience teaching preschool-age children
  • To be qualified as a Pre-K teacher, candidates must meet ONE of the following qualification options: (a) New York State Certification Birth–Grade 2 (b) New York State Certification N–6 (c) New York State Certification P, K, 1–6 (d) Bachelor’s Degree & approved 5-Year Plan
  • You have medical clearance to perform all job duties and are free from communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).
  • You bring a warm, friendly, and positive attitude, with strong interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and team members.
  • You are professional, dependable, and punctual.
  • You are able to meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate Pre-K program aligned with UPK School District requirements
  • Design and teach culturally responsive lessons
  • Assess, track, and provide timely feedback on student progress and development
  • Use positive, age-appropriate guidance strategies
  • Build strong relationships with staff and families through professional communication and engagement
  • Collaborate with teacher assistants and other team members
  • Design classroom environments following ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale)
  • Develop literacy and math-focused activities using the Creative Curriculum
  • Participate in professional development and program evaluation
