About The Position

The Pre-Health Career Coach at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a part-time role focused on providing career and academic advising to pre-health students and alumni. This position aims to assist students in navigating their academic requirements, preparing for health-related graduate programs, and enhancing their career prospects through workshops and individual coaching. The coach will also engage with alumni and employers in the healthcare field to create opportunities for students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proven experience in advising, teaching, and/or coaching students.
  • Experience in event and program planning.
  • Master's degree in career counseling, counseling, higher education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in career services, academic advising, or similar function is ideal.
  • Experience advising or coaching pre-health students is highly desired.
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of career development theory is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small group career advising and coaching for pre-health students and alumni.
  • Advise non-degree students interested in health professions.
  • Assist students in understanding academic requirements for health programs and graduate degrees.
  • Help students prepare for the application process, including practice interviews and staying current with admission criteria.
  • Oversee and present workshops on application preparation and interview strategies.
  • Plan and facilitate relevant programming and workshops in collaboration with various campus organizations.
  • Establish relationships with alumni and engage them in career opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and campus stakeholders to develop resources and support for pre-health students.
  • Contribute to the career center's website and social media presence.
