The Estimator will be responsible for coordinating preconstruction services and preparing conceptual budgets and full cost estimates for public and private projects Job Responsibilities Interface directly with clients, architects, engineers, as required Perform preliminary site inspections Read and interpret plans and specifications Identify plan discrepancies and scheduling contingencies Identify opportunities for value engineering Define and develop scopes of work Develop and maintain bid list and relationships with local subcontractors Obtain bids from subcontractors Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors Assist with construction timelines and scheduling parameters Prepare accurate and comprehensive conceptual budgets and job cost proposals, including GMP, lump sum and design-build bids Prepare client bid packages Position Requirements: Knowledge of current unit pricing Proficient in quantity take-offs and square foot estimating Professional verbal and written communication skills Thorough understanding of current building construction systems, means and methods Familiarity with current local building codes Familiarity with construction safety requirements Familiarity with construction contracts and insurance requirements Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in construction related field 5 years minimum preconstruction estimating Strong skills in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook On-screen take-off experience (strongly preferred) Some Things You Should Know To serve our Clients in the Southeast Indiana area.
