The position involves completing the registration process for all patients referred for outpatient rehabilitation services. This includes gathering background information, prescriptions for treatment, and verifying medical insurance coverage. The role ensures that patients and caregivers understand the treatment process and completes necessary consent forms, HIPAA notifications, attendance requirements, and patient responsibilities. Additionally, the position requires completing patient releases for medical records and providing documentation to physicians, third-party payers, and other entities as authorized by the patient. The role also involves pre-certifying patient private insurance, workers' compensation, Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement benefits. Information regarding medically indigent assistance programs is provided to patients without medical coverage, and benefits information is clearly communicated in patient records for clinician access. The individual is responsible for maintaining patient records according to approved department procedures, filing charts, and discharging records as needed. In the absence of a patient access specialist, the individual will answer phone calls, complete patient referrals, and schedule appointments. The clerical team is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the desk, office, reception, and lobby areas, and performing other duties as directed by the Operations Coordinator, Manager, or Director.
