About The Position

Completes registration process for all patients referred for outpatient rehabilitation services by gathering background information, prescription for treatment and medical insurance coverage. Ensures patient/caregiver understanding and completes consent for treatment, HIPPA notification, attendance requirements and patient responsibilities. Completes patient release for medical records and provides documentation to physicians, third party payers, and other entities per patient authorization. Pre-certifies patient private insurance, workers compensation, Medicare, Medicaid and other reimbursement benefits. Provides information for medically indigent assistance program information to patients with no medical coverage. Benefits information is communicated clearly in patient record and accessible to clinicians. Responsible for maintaining patient records per approved department procedures, filing of charts and discharging records as needed. Is responsible for answering phone calls, completing patient referrals, and scheduling appointments in absence of patient access specialist. Clerical team members maintain cleanliness of desk, office, reception and lobby area, and performs other duties as directed by Operations Coordinator, Manager, or Director.

Requirements
