This position assists Principal Investigators at the Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ) by performing administrative and technical functions associated with grants, contracts, and agreements from external funding sources. The position also serves as a liaison to the Office of Sponsored Projects ( OSP ), Institutional Review Board ( IRB ), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee ( IACUC ), the Office of the Vice President and Research, and other campus entities as necessary. This position is hybrid, and a successful candidate will telecommute from home. Learn more here Responsibilities Essential pre-award duties include but are not limited to: 1. Assist faculty in developing and submitting proposals for extramural funding. 2. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty and their Administrative Assistants (AA) while assisting with submission of proposals of varying complexity and deadlines. 3. Advise faculty, as appropriate, regarding potential risks, irregularities of proposal applications, and responsibilities. 3. Work with other institutions to prepare subcontract documents, and if applicable, ensure documents are in compliance with Uniform Guidance terms and conditions and other required federal regulations. 4. Work closely with the University of Utah, Office of Sponsored Projects ( OSP ) to ensure that grant applications are routed to OSP for required internal deadlines, and assist faculty members with any issues from the OSP review. 5. Assist faculty with the sponsor’s post-award information requests. This includes, but is not limited to: NIH Just in Time ( JIT ), and DOD Pre-Award Information Requests ( PAIR ). 6. Review and set up grant awards and transition them to the appropriate Post-Award GMS for post award management. 7. Maintain a current knowledge of changing institutional policies and federal requirements governing externally funded grants and contracts. In addition to post duties, HCI Grants & Contracts Officers assist with maintaining the NCI / NIH required elements of the Cancer Center Support Grant ( CCSG ). A CCSG role is assigned at time of hire, and is based on component need.
