About The Position

The Pre-Arrival Specialist is responsible for assisting the patient through the pre-registration process to ensure outpatient procedures are screened based on assigned payers, missing or incomplete information is obtained, and insurance eligibility is verified while assisting the patient obtain pre-certifications, referrals, and authorization for patient visits.

Requirements

• Require an Associate's degree. Relevant experience can substitute for required degree on a year for year basis.
• Require one (1) year of SMHCS Insurance Verification Rep I experience.

• Prefer the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Prefer effective communication skills including ability to interact professionally with physician offices and interdepartmentally.
• Prefer general knowledge of medical insurance and terminology.
• Prefer knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and current CPT coding.
• Prefer patient registration and/or billing experience.
