About The Position

The Pre-Analytical Assistant II in the Tech Ops Department is responsible for knowing all of the functions of the Pre-Analytical Assistant I, plus additional functions. This position requires the ability to solve more complex problems on a routine basis and demonstrates a basic understanding of how Specimen Processing and Tech Ops impact testing departments and result quality. The role includes identifying problems with specimen types versus test orders, missing information, improperly positioned bar code labels, and understanding the complex relationship between tests ordered and specimens received. The assistant will complete all required written documentation in a clear and legible manner within the assigned time frame and is expected to meet quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training. The position also involves learning additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to ensure cross-functional support, adhering to all Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, including safety and compliance, and performing all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Medical background required which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Familiarity with personal computers, basic Windows-based software.
  • Good typing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a laboratory environment or a production setting.

Responsibilities

  • Meets or exceeds productivity and quality standards for Pre-Analytical Assistant I.
  • Solves more complex problems on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of how Specimen Processing and Tech Ops impact testing departments and result quality.
  • Identifies problems with specimen types vs test orders, missing information, improperly positioned bar code labels, etc.
  • Completes all required written documentation such that it is understandable to others, legible and within the assigned time frame.
  • Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
  • Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to ensure cross-functional support.
  • Adheres to all Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, including safety and compliance.
  • Sorts, racks, picks up and delivers specimens to the laboratory, specimen storage, operates centrifuge, aliquots.
