We are looking for a dynamic individual that will help provide direct and indirect patient care in the Pre-admission testing area. As the Pre- admission Nurse communicates with physicians/Nurse Managers /Directors and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Maintains performance improvement activities within the Surgical Services line and participates in CQI activities. Will back-up the Nurse Navigator in the Participate in the Joint and Spine monthly educational classes.

Requirements

  • Current state Registered Nurse Licensure, within state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS and PALS preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and determines appropriate needs of assigned patients as evidence by appropriate documentation. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory’s and the resident care unit’s policies and procedures.
  • Insures appropriate patient preparation as well as timely completion of chart prior to surgery, special procedure, transfer or discharge.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers
