About The Position

This position is responsible for carrying out the patient intake process, obtaining required medical clearance information, and performing necessary assessments to determine if the patient is a candidate for outpatient surgery.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited post-secondary school of nursing required.
1 year of nursing experience in Ambulatory Surgery, PACU, ER, ICU or PAT preferred.
Must be computer literate. Basic computer skills required.
Current TN Registered Nurse License or Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS preferred. If not currently certified, must be able to obtain requisite certifications within 90 days of hire.
Ability to immediately recognize and initiate treatment in emergency situations (perform CPR)

Nice To Haves

1 year of nursing experience in Ambulatory Surgery, PACU, ER, ICU or PAT preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage the patient intake process and perform assessment to obtain medical history
Determine patient needs for pre-admission testing
Knowledge of anesthetic agents and narcotics as necessary to coordinate all aspects of nursing care and teaching between patients, families and surgical team to achieve desired outcomes
Serve as liaison between patients and other healthcare providers to obtain patient medical clearance as necessary or when required
Evaluate, plan, implement, and document care, observations, and medical history
Knowledge of Perioperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing procedures to assist in these areas as needed
Regular and predictable attendance
Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
Perform other duties as assigned
