About The Position

St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute offers a clinical practicum in mental health. All practicum are nine-month training experiences. The approximate start date is subject to some variation based on the student's academic schedule. Practicum experiences are typically 9-10 hours per week. We do not offer a three-month or one-semester practicum. The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program providers at SLBMI have been trained in formal Marsha Linehan DBT approach. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to be active members of a DBT consultation team, as well as provide treatment in the Adult DBT IOP and DBT Outpatient Group/Individual Services. This program is led by Claudia Charles, Ph.D. Practicum student application deadline for 2025-2026 training year is February 1, 2025.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in clinical or counseling psychology, clinical social work, or another mental health discipline.
  • Availability for nine to ten hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Administer psychological interventions under the direction of a licensed psychologist and other licensed mental health professionals.
  • Co-lead therapy groups.
  • Attend and participate in group supervision and clinical rounds.
  • Conduct intake screenings.
  • Attend all continuing education programs provided at the Institute.
