Walkersville Veterinary Clinic, located just outside Frederick, Maryland, is seeking a talented and motivated Practice Manager to join our leadership team. For over 45 years, Walkersville Veterinary Clinic has proudly served the community as a six-doctor mixed animal practice, providing both small and large animal care. Our hospital is known for our compassionate approach, long-standing client relationships, and strong sense of teamwork — with several staff members having been part of our family for over 25 years. As Practice Manager, you will partner with the Medical Director to lead hospital operations, enhance the client and patient experience, and support the success and development of the team. Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a veterinary setting (Practice Manager, Hospital Administrator, etc.)
  • Minimum 2 years of large animal experience
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams while driving operational excellence
  • Strong business and financial acumen; comfortable using data to inform decisions
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability and initiative in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to commute or relocate to Walkersville, MD

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and retain an engaged and motivated veterinary team
  • Conduct onboarding, performance reviews, and staff development initiatives
  • Collaborate with our Medical Directors on team and doctor meetings
  • Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive culture rooted in VetEvolve’s values
  • Promote safety, teamwork, and accountability throughout the hospital
  • Manage daily hospital operations, scheduling, and workflow efficiency
  • Monitor KPIs such as payroll, revenue, and inventory performance
  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager and Medical Director on growth initiatives
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure consistent and accurate use of practice management software
  • Drive continuous improvement in service quality, operational performance, and team engagement
