About The Position

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership Competencies Personnel Management Overall accountability and management of staff which may include administrative team members, Advanced Practice Practitioners, and ancillary team members within the department. Regularly assesses developmental opportunities for staff, coach staff to enhance performance, and support staff in learning and applying new skills and competencies. Coordinates and monitors staffing levels and labor efficiency in collaboration with the department leadership team. Determines staffing levels based on patient care needs, patient flow, medical acuity, procedures, team member skills and other clinic needs. Approves staff payroll biweekly in accordance with payroll department guidelines and schedule. Mentors and counsels’ staff to include initiating Performance Improvement Plans. Conducts interviews, hires, and onboards new team members. Fosters productive practices which reflect InterMed’s strategic call to action and values for excellence in the delivery of patient care. Works with the Compliance and Human Resources teams to assure compliance with State, Federal and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements for staff. Leadership Models behaviors that demonstrate service excellence to staff and focus on the patient as the primary customer. Establish credibility and a strong presence in the department with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, and team members Leads Lean Six Sigma initiatives for the department to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Fosters intra-departmental support and collaboration between all sites. Monitors department performance and creatively seeks solutions to foster quality improvement. In coordination with the Department Chief, develops policies and procedures for department functions Continuously optimize team member roles and responsibilities to meet performance goals. Support, embrace and lead change management. Communication Works in partnership with the clinical teams, practice leadership, and senior leadership teams. Fosters strong working relationships with all levels of the organization to facilitate effective communication and to connect front line staff’s daily priorities to the organization’s strategic goals. Maintains open and effective line of communication with physicians, advanced practice practitioners and team members. Demonstrates strong interpersonal savvy. Operations Serve as a key driver to foster reliability across practices as it relates to processes and policies that optimize patients’ communication with the practice, access to high value care, and exceptional experience. Work closely with senior leaders to help generate key reports and provide analysis to improve performance and build new programs to address operational issues. Organize ad hoc working groups for special projects, programs, and other initiatives as needed and ensure channels of communication are open across all clinical practices. Serve as a project sponsor for key operational and strategic projects within operations that span the needs and opportunities of the company. Identify, design systems to achieve, and report on key performance indicators for the department. Execute and manage vendor contracts to ensure the procurement of medical supplies and equipment that facilitate the delivery of high value patient care. Partner with clinical department leadership to ensure that department operations, resource planning, and strategic initiatives are aligned to quality-of-care priorities and clinical outcomes. Financial and Administrative Accountability Assume management and administration of department budgets including operating and capital budgets as well as revenue projections Monitor budget and report on variances. Review and analyze monthly reports, identify trends, and plan/react accordingly Monitor provider productivity monthly and report trends to Department Chief and senior leadership Act as a resource to physicians and team members and disseminate updates in a timely manner Confidentiality Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines. Maintain confidentiality related to financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic, or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and/or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes. Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies. Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in nursing or healthcare administration.
  • Minimum five years management level experience supervising 15+ employees in a medical practice setting which consisted of 10 or more physicians required.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience in a clinical or academic setting which included residents is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated formal leadership training experience.
  • Proven record of success working in a collaborative manner with physicians and other senior management.
