At Stony Brook Medicine, the Practice Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the physician practice operations within the Sleep Disorders Center. This role is crucial as it acts as a liaison between administration, office personnel, and physicians, ensuring that all parties are aligned and working towards common goals. The Practice Manager will supervise administrative personnel, assigning and monitoring tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient clinic operations. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the office environment, fostering a productive and conflict-free atmosphere by promoting teamwork and addressing concerns in a timely manner. The Practice Manager's duties include aligning the goals and objectives of the physician practice with department administrators, maintaining open lines of communication between physicians and other associates, and demonstrating proficiency in both front and back office processes. The role also involves managing office-based components in collaboration with the Central Billing Office to oversee billing and co-pay collection activities, as well as demonstrating a general understanding of insurance reimbursement policies. The Practice Manager will be responsible for effective hiring and training of personnel, including management and mentorship of staff, and conducting ongoing performance management activities. In addition to operational management, the Practice Manager will promote the growth of the practice through strategic thinking and execution of business plans while monitoring and evaluating all areas of compliance to ensure the highest standards are met. This includes fostering and maintaining referral opportunities within the physician network and promoting high standards of patient experience while evaluating areas for improvement. The Practice Manager may also be required to cover weekend hours based on the operational needs of the office, highlighting the need for flexibility in this role.
