The Practice Manager at Baker Tilly plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day internal practice management activities that drive growth and execution of strategy on behalf of the practice and team leaders. This position reports directly to the Business Management Leader and involves significant collaboration with the firm's Enterprise Solutions & Operations (ESO) functions to meet team and business needs. A key focus of this role is to build and drive operational excellence while emphasizing continuous improvement across the practice, business line, and consulting service line. In terms of financial and operational support, the Practice Manager will assist with financial budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. This includes reviewing monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with the Business Management Leader and Finance team, monitoring chargeable hours, utilization, overtime, and travel, and overseeing project quality management (QM) for Accounts Receivable (AR) and Work in Process (WIP). The role also involves managing expenses related to employees, subcontractors, vendors, software, and subscriptions, as well as responding to financial and operational outliers and trends to support business growth as identified by Finance. The Practice Manager will also support business development efforts by overseeing the Salesforce (CRM software) Opportunity Pipeline, preparing Sales Pipeline Reports for forecasting, and liaising with Baker Tilly's Marketing and Growth Strategies Teams. Additionally, the role includes oversight of business alliance membership renewals and fee processing, along with preparing periodic reports and presentations on key business development metrics. Resource and talent management is another critical aspect of this position. The Practice Manager will work closely with Resource Managers, Partners, and Project Managers to ensure appropriate staffing for engagements, understand team members' skills and career aspirations, and support Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIBS) initiatives. The role also involves ensuring the accuracy of the resource management system and skills database, reviewing business pipeline reports to identify staffing needs, and collaborating with Resource Management and Talent Management on hiring and performance-related matters. In terms of recruiting, onboarding, and training, the Practice Manager will liaise with Resource Management, Talent Management, and People Solutions to identify recruiting priorities based on the business pipeline, support new hire onboarding activities, and plan the execution of the team's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training curriculum. Finally, the Practice Manager will coordinate the timely execution of business plan strategic initiatives, support meetings and events, create and edit presentation materials, and assist with client satisfaction surveys. Participation in consulting and firmwide strategic initiatives to improve systems and processes to support business growth is also expected.
