Blue Ridge Community College seeks a committed and student-centered nursing professional to serve as faculty for the Practical Nursing (PN) program. This position is responsible for creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment across classroom, lab, and clinical settings that supports students in achieving cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes. The PN faculty member plays a vital role in fostering professional values, behaviors, and critical thinking skills essential to the role of a practical nurse. Aligned with the College's mission to empower individuals through accessible, high-quality education, this position contributes to student success by delivering contemporary, evidence-based instruction and by promoting collaboration within the Health Sciences division and across campus. This position is designed for the evening program schedule, and schedule flexibility is expected to meet student and programmatic needs including occasional weekends. All faculty are expected to be able to work in a variety of settings including partnering high schools and off site locations, as needed.

  • Deliver high-quality instruction using diverse teaching strategies in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance across all domains of learning.
  • Maintain accurate course records and complete beginning/end-of-semester documentation, including electronic course materials, attendance and grade records, test item analyses, clinical schedules and clinical evaluations, and recommendations for course revisions.
  • Contribute to ongoing program evaluation and accreditation compliance (national program and regional institution).
  • Actively participate in program assessment activities and continuous curriculum improvement.
  • Serve on program and college committees, collaborating with faculty and staff to support institutional effectiveness and shared governance.
  • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and selection for the PN program. Participate in recruiting activities for area schools and organizations.
  • Engage with the PN program's advisory committee and community partners to ensure the curriculum reflects current healthcare trends and workforce readiness.
  • Maintain compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies, including those of the NC Community College System and the NC Board of Nursing.
  • Develop and submit course syllabi and clinical requests to the Program Director and/or program support staff.
  • Request instructional materials, supplies, and ATI resources as needed.
  • Provide academic advising and career guidance to PN students.
  • Facilitate communication between students and faculty to support student success and early intervention.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Dean.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required); Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Prior to or within three years of hire, must meet North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for faculty preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, which may include: 45 contact hours of continuing education, certificate program in nursing education, nine semester hours in education coursework, national certification in nursing education, structured, board-approved individualized development activities.
