About The Position

The Community Based Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who will provide direct and indirect care to assigned patients while under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The LPN will provide care to Veterans that will promote the Veteran attaining and maintaining maximum functionality.

Responsibilities

Assists with patient admission and discharge.
Participates in patient care conferences and contributes to the formulation of the interdisciplinary patient care plan.
Performs colostomy care for stabilized patient's colostomies.
Catheterizes and irrigates bladders.
Establishes closed drainage systems and provides routine catheter care.
Initiate's oxygen therapy as ordered by the physician or as directed by the RN.
Applies hot/cold devices.
Suction's mouth, pharynx, and trachea.
Performs postural draining and cupping
Utilizing proper body mechanics, positions, turns, lifts, and transfer patients
Bathes and provides routine skin care, oral care and bed making.
Contributes to a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patient and staff by cleaning equipment, furniture, and patient care areas.
Escorts residents to the dining are, physical, occupational, and recreational therapy, clinics, and other off unit activities including accompanying residents on trips to activities away from the Unit.
