About The Position

The Eastern Oklahoma Veterans Affairs Medical Center is hiring one Licensed Practical Nurse located in Tulsa, OK. This position is a permanent, full-time role with a work schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The salary range for this position is $40,786 - $74,233 per year, and it falls under the GS 00 pay scale. The job does not require travel, telework, or relocation expenses reimbursement. The position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive status.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required.

Responsibilities

  • Makes observations and thoroughly documents care and the patient's response.
  • Performs, reports, and records assigned nursing care in the Podiatry Clinic.
  • Addresses clinical reminders with appropriate consults and alerts as indicated.
  • Checks med rooms, temperature of the refrigerator, expiration dates of meds and supplies.
  • Documents nursing care.
  • Assists with minor procedures, including obtaining and arranging necessary equipment, positioning patient, ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Monitors patient during the procedure.
  • Assists in scheduling clinic appointments by communicating with the clinic schedulers.
  • Uses established business rules for scheduling, Electronic Wait List (EWL), Patient Cancellations, and Clinic Cancellations.
  • Adheres to standards of practice and safe technique in preparation administration of medication.
  • Prepares and administers prescribed medications and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures.
  • Observes for physical and/or emotional changes in patient's condition from prescribed medications/treatments.
  • Promptly recognizes urgent or emergent patient care situations, seeks assistance and effectively intervenes as directed.
  • Provides patient and family health education, to include self management, prevention and wellness based on the patient's goals.
  • Interacts and communicates appropriately with patients and family members.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
