The PR supervisor oversees a wide range of public relations activities, including writing, media relations. event support, outcomes measurement and more. The public relations supervisor also may serve as a talent lead with responsibility for team member goal setting, career mapping, coaching and performance feedback. As with every level of PR practitioner, the PR supervisor helps maintain a favorable public image for clients as well as Curious Plot by communicating key messages, accomplishments and/or points of view; manages media relations, announcements, speaking opportunities and thought leadership initiatives; maintains high acumen with the field’s concepts, practices and procedures; relies on his/her own extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; and leads and directs the work of others. Background of this individual should align closely with the agency’s business focus of food, agriculture and companion animal health within the business-to-business and business-to-consumer spectrum.

  • Deliver full breadth of public relations services including earned media, experiential marketing and events, stakeholder management, industry relations, reputation management, internal communications, issues management, influencer management and technical writing
  • Accountable for ensuring projects are on time, on budget and on strategy
  • Writing for a variety of needs/channels, such as message development, media releases, thought leadership articles, etc.
  • Media pitching and building media relationships
  • Strategic planning and development of PR campaigns
  • Stay abreast of current events and PR trends and tools and provide insights and POV to clients
  • Support issues and crisis communications
  • Ensure projects are on time, on budget and on strategy
  • Effectively manage up with supervisors
  • Coach, mentor and provide support for team members
  • Establish goals, conduct reviews and oversee the career-mapping process for direct reports
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface with all levels of executives and senior management
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – listening, empathizing, problem solving, managing conflict, facilitating critical conversations – that inspires trust
  • Storyteller, critical thinker and problem solver
  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism, communications, English or related field
  • Seven-ten years of experience in journalism or communications
  • Proven media relations experience
  • Proficiency with various technology tools including Microsoft Office suite
