In the Detroit Powertrain Test Center we are driving the powertrain validation for our global Daimler Truck brand including conventional diesel and alternative powertrain components. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, setting up and executing component testing as well as resolving problems encountered during testing. This position involves applying technical expertise to powertrain test definition, set-up and commissioning, instrumentation, data quality monitoring and issues resolution as required to support functional component validation objectives. We are looking for a person who is solution orientated and has excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. In addition, has the ability to accomplish tasks with the highest standards of quality and ethics. This person also must be capable of developing strong working relationships with salaried and union employees. Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability. Continuously monitor and resolve issues during test execution as required. Includes completion of all engineering test instructions and necessary reports as provided by the engineering product team. Researches, evaluates and recommends new investments in technology, equipment, systems, or other assets that will enhance the laboratory’s performance Interface with product engineering as required to establish test requirements. This includes set-up requirements, test cycle, data logging requirements and test duration. Perform post-test data capture and oversee tear down and layout at conclusion of tests. Tasks include preparing and verifying final customer report, participating in tear-down parts review, and final parts disposition packaging, shipping and logistics. Identify and drive process and efficiency improvement strategies.
