About The Position

DC Public Schools (DCPS) aims to engage an experienced developer with at least 4 years of experience to maintain a suite of previously created applications as well as design, develop, and document projects and applications using PowerApps and the Power Platform suite.

Requirements

  • A solid understanding of information flow, database fundamentals, and technical requirements listed below are necessary for this position.
  • Extensive experience with Angular (or another modern frontend framework such as: React or Vue.js).
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience in optimizing web applications for performance and usability.
  • Experience with integrating with third party APIs.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Designing and implementing PowerApps applications
  • The candidate must be willing to work onsite 3 to 4 days on site. The interviews will be in person as well.
  • Background check: Extensive criminal history background check will be required. We cannot submit candidates with recent histories (go back seven years) of extensive driving, drug, robbery or any other illegal activity. Any criminal activity on the background check will eliminate the candidate from consideration. If selected, please make certain that you inform all candidates that they will have to complete this criminal background check prior to starting. NATIONAL background checks are required; Federal background checks are NOT compliant under this contract. A national background check is a national criminal background check that pulls criminal records from State and County Courts in almost every US State.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
  • HTML, CSS, Java script, and modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js)
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating front-end interfaces with backend systems
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex front-end issues
  • Proficient in version control systems (e.g., Git) and code collaboration tools
  • Understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to translate wireframes into functional web interfaces

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain PowerApps applications solo or in a small team.
  • Design and implement Power Automate Cloud flows, desktop flows, or business process flows.
  • Create and configure workflows, business process automation, and integration solutions using Power Automate.
  • Integrate low-code solutions with external systems and data sources.
  • Maintain a suite of low code/no code QuickBase applications, customize html pages using both the QuickBase API as well as regular QuickBase interface.
  • Maintain existing data feeds to various third-party vendors.
  • Create and maintain new ETL processes as necessary.
  • Manage workload and assist in troubleshooting and urgent priority requests.
  • The contractor shall establish suitable processes and systems to guarantee the most regimented organization of resources involved in the support of the QuickBase Applications including project tracking and knowledge management. Complete documentation of processes and work is required to be maintained in an annual cycle workplan.
  • The Contractor shall prepare draft and final versions of specific Program and Project Plans when necessary or as directed that are appropriate for the size and scale of technical efforts being undertaken. These plans shall specify the tasks, sub tasks, dependencies, resource requirements, schedules, and milestone dates required to complete specific technical programs or projects. When approved by the Director of Operations, these plans shall be used to monitor, control, and report progress, issues, and resource expenditures. These plans shall be updated as required and approved by the Director of Operations as required to maintain currency with project objectives, activities, and direction.
