About The Position

We are currently looking for a Power Systems Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in protection and control system design, power system analysis, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation for commercial, industrial, generation and renewables. Typical system voltage levels range from 138 kV to 2.4kV. This position can be filled in any of our New York offices. The Building Engineering Division at LaBella provides complete building engineering services including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering. Services range from feasibility studies and analysis through project design and construction. Our engineers are well versed in new construction, renovations, additions, analysis, special structures, and design/build projects for a variety of clients. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in protection and control system design.
  • Experience in power system analysis, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation.
  • Familiarity with commercial, industrial, generation, and renewables projects.
  • Knowledge of system voltage levels ranging from 138 kV to 2.4kV.

Responsibilities

  • Design projects working directly with clients to develop project scope, identify problems, and propose solutions.
  • Create Protection and Control drawings and documentation including relay one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, I/O lists, and relay settings, configuration files, etc.
  • Prepare panel construction specifications including panel and interconnect wiring as well as panel layouts and elevations.
  • Evaluate the interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects of protective relays, RTUs, LTC Controllers, and other equipment.
  • Perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, and relay setting coordination.
  • Aid in commissioning as needed pertaining to system startups and functional checks.
