About The Position

As a Power System Studies Engineering Intern in the Renewables Studies Group, you will assist in performing electrical power system modeling and analysis primarily for renewable facilities, supporting the solar, wind, BESS, and substation design teams. Hourly Rate: $27.00/hour The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.
  • Experience: Relevant coursework or projects in electrical engineering or field experience is a plus.
  • Experience with power system modeling software such as: Steady State software: (PowerFactory; ETAP; SKM Power Tools; Easypower; Aspen; Windmil) System Protection & Arc Flash software: (CAPE, Aspen, ETAP; Power Factory; SKM Power Tools; Easy Power) Grounding software: (CDEGS; WinIGS) Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: (PSSe, PSLF) Cable Ampacity software: (Cymcap) Transient Studies software: (PSCAD)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and people skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in creating and developing studies and reports, including but not limited to short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic (pre & post), NERC compliance, ampacity, grounding, and other related studies and calculations.
  • Assist in establishing templates and guides for use in the completion of system studies.
  • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects.
  • Collaborates and communicates well with other.
  • Seeks instruction and alignment on all tasks to ensure project alignment and quality.
  • Seeks to learn and gain a strong understanding and application of applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.
  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Secondary responsibilities may include assisting with detailed design of electrical power systems, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, writing equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
