About The Position

This position holds primary responsibility for the real time monitoring, operation, and control of the Bulk Power Transmission system at MPC. Responsibilities include: Minute-to-minute monitoring and control of the bulk electric power system under normal system conditions. Analysis and evaluation of the system, determination of restoration actions and implementation of those actions under abnormal system conditions. The ability to remain current in understanding and implementation of all NERC compliance standards.

Requirements

  • A thorough understanding of the operation of an electric system is necessary.
  • Prior experience in Transmission Systems highly desired (Substations, Transmission Lines, Operations, or Protection & Controls).
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience in transmission system operations and characteristics is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience in substation equipment and their operating characteristics is preferred.
  • General knowledge and/or experience in generation control, system protection, and system control is desired.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is desirable (not required) and may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of interconnected power systems operations.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Comprehensive computer skills in order to utilize numerous computer applications.
  • Leadership and other interpersonal skills required to work with other professionals in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple inputs and tasks at one time, prioritize work and provide leadership during critical system events.
  • Superior problem-solving skills and be comfortable making decisions with limited input and extreme time constraints.
